Australia Day in Merimbula is all about kicking back, enjoying the sun, and hitting the water for one of the town’s favourite traditions — The Big Float! Whether you’re jumping off the bridge with your best floatie or sliding in with a splash, floating around Merimbula’s beautiful lake is a must-do this Australia Day.

When to Join the Fun?

Mark your calendars! High tide is around 8AM, but the real action kicks off from 10AM at the Market Street bridge. Grab your inflatables, boats, kayaks, or SUPs and float your way to Spencer Park or Mitchies Jetty while enjoying the outgoing tide.

What to Bring?

• Your favourite inflatable — the wackier, the better!
• A kayak, SUP, or surfboard for extra adventure
• Sunscreen, a hat, and a water bottle
• Your camera or GoPro to capture the fun
• A sense of fun — you’ll need it!

After the Ride

Extend the fun by heading to a nearby park or beach, grabbing a bite at a local café, or simply soaking in the stunning views of Merimbula Lake. It’s a perfect day to celebrate summer and Aussie spirit!
