Nowra Fishing Report | June 6,2024

The Rocks & Beaches

Its been an awesome few months on the Stones with everything from Bream and Luderick too Bonito and even Longtail Tuna. As we sail into June the local waters are cooling down and we are now into our winter season. Whales are on the move and pelagics have mostly moved on. Its not all gloom there are still some great fishing to be had along our coastline. Now is a great time of year to target Luderick, Big Bream, Drummer and salmon and most rocks should see you bag a feed.

The Beaches are fishing well and with recent rain not showing any signs of giving us a break a lot of fish will leave the estuaries and rivers and move onto the beaches as well as a lot of bait pushed out. This weather is also a great time to target Mulloway on the beaches and rumors are circulating of some decent fish getting about lately.

River & Lakes

As the weather gods keep drowning us in rain the rivers and lakes will be running dirty and may fish tough at times however concentrating your efforts closer to the entrances around the top of the tide and start of the run out tide this might give you some cleaner water to work with. Bream and Luderick will still be on the cards but again all depends on the volume of rain getting dumped.

Bass season is closed atm but with recent rains it can be fun day chasing Carp up the Shoalhaven river and upper catchments. Baits such as corn work well but Fly casting and lure casting can be fun and rewarding also.Β

Offshore

Water temps are on the drop and the game guys are waiting for the Tuna to arrive fingers crossed we get a great run this year but atm it is yet to fire. Rumors of fish from down south around Bermagui so its all a waiting game atm.

A great time of year to target Kingfish with larger fish not uncommon during these cooler months and lately there have been some really good sized reds caught on Plastics and bait.

Spawn Run Trout

As we approach the long weekend everyone is praying for rain over the Snowies as it has been pretty tough this year with very little rain falling where it is needed. There have still been some amazing catches and still a great way to spend the long weekend.
