NOWRA FISHING REPORT - March 1, 2023

Some great fishing going on currently in the Shoalhaven. Outside the marlin bite has been great and they are being caught inside Jervis bay also. Drifting or walking live Slimey Mackerel has been the most productive. The stripes have been a bit scarce but hoping they will arrive mid-March along with some Yellowfin Tuna. Also, some dolphin fish in around the FAD’s and some nice kingfish around the Banks and Currarong. Inshore there are schools of juvenile kingfish hanging around the rocky headlands and Jervis Bay.

The squid have started to appear in Jervis Bay and the inshore reefs. There were a few marlin caught inside Jervis Bay at the Tubes over the past week. Some nice blackfish are being caught from the ocean rocks along with the odd drummer.

The estuaries are fishing reasonably well now with the Basin and Conjola both producing some nice bream on surface lures and hardbody’s. St Georges basin also seeing nice flathead and whiting along with the odd jewfish caught. The Shoalhaven River mulloway have been proving quite elusive in the past few weeks unless you fish bait for them, but patience will pay off.

The bass scene has been going off in the Shoalhaven with a heap of bass and EP’s up past the Ski Park and further on the ever reliable Cicada lures and cranks. Most of the smaller creeks have also been producing some good bass fishing early morning and late afternoon.
