Canberra Fishing Report | April 2024
LOCAL LAKES & RIVERS
Googong & Burrinjuck Dams prove to be the standout locations of the local impoundments with some cracking Golden Perch reported.
Autumn is typically a great time to target big goldens as they feed heavily to put on condition for winter when the water temps plummet.
Methods: • Slow jigging • Casting lures or flies
Lures: • Ecogear ZX40 • Jackall TN60 • Storm Hot’n’Tot
Flies: • MFC Mega Rabbit • MFC Mega Marabou
As we lead into winter, you should start to think about upsizing the size of you presentation when targeting Murray Cod.

The annual migration of Brown Trout has started in the Eucumbene River.
This is the most famous spawn run in Australia with the largest volume of fish and a larger average size than any other.
Trophy fish to 10lb and beyond have been recorded most years.
There has been a small run of fish already, but the bulk of fish continue to congregate in the lake in anticipation of rain.
These fish rely heavily on rising river levels to spawn successfully.
Only lure & fly are permitted in these prestigious waters.
Catch and release is encouraged. Please adhere to fisheries rules regulations when fishing this spawning river.
